UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam 2014 Notification

The much awaited and the Most Prestigious Civil Services Prelims Exam 2014 Dates have been announced. The Prelims 2014 Notification will be released by UPSC on 17th May, 2014. The Written Exam (Prelims ) is tentatively scheduled in the Month of August-2014. The civil services examination (CSE) is the most toughest and competitive examination in India conducted by Union Public service commission for recruitment to various prestigious civil services of Govt. of India which includes Indian Administrative service (IAS), Indian revenue services (IRS), Indian foreign services (IFS), Indian police services (IPS) etc. Clearing this examination is like a “Dream come true” for every aspirant in India

In this age where we see various notorious scams going on our country, this is the most fair examination. As many of you are well aware of the fact that “Hardwork is the key to success”.This examination prepration is not a easy job as it requires your all sweat and blood. On an average 9 to 10 lakh candidates apply every year for this exam and roughly 6-7 lakh appear for it.
           
Aspirants have to clear 3 stages  process with success rate of about 0.3% of total applications.

What is the Eligibility Criteria ?


Applicants who seem desirous of becoming a Civil Servant and wants to apply for this Prestigious Exam, must full fill the below mentioned Eligibility conditions

1)  Nationality:

a) For IAS and IPS, candidate must be a citizen of India.
b) For IRS and other services, candidate must be citizen of India plus a person of India origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Srilanka, Kenya, Uganda, Vietnam, Taznzania, Zambia, Malawi can also apply, if they want to settle here permanently .

2. Education:

a) All candidates must possess graduate degrees from central, stats or deemed university.
b) A degree from correspondence or Open University to acceptable as well.
c) Candidates who have passed any professional degree like MBBS, BDS, BAMS etc but haven’t completed their internship can also apply but they have to submit proof of their eligibility from their institute/university at the time of main exams.

3. Age Limit: Minimum of 21st years and maximum of 30 years as on 1 august 2014 for general category. Age Relaxation is provided for Reserved Category Candidates.

How the exam is conducted?


The Examination has 3 stages:

Stage I: - Preliminary examination: This will be held on August 24, 2014. Notification of the same would be released  on May 17, 2014. Last date of receipt of applications form be June 10, 2014.


Stage II: - Mains Exam commence from December 14,2014.


Stage III: - Interview

Now lets talk about preliminary examination here: -

Preliminary exam is now known as Civil Services Aptitude Test. It comprises
Of 2 compulsory papers of 200 marks each and of 2 ½ hour duration. The question will be of multiple choices.

Number of Attempts:


1. 4 attempts for general and OBC category under creamy layer.
2. 7 attempts for OBC category.
3. For SC/ST there is no limit on number of attempts.

Mode of Selection:


Preliminary exam is screening test. Marks obtained in preliminary examination who are declared qualified for admission to mains will not be counted for determining their finalment. Number of candidates admitted to mains will be about 11 to 13 times the total no of vacancies.
